Phase 3 construction started in May 2012
Special thanks to Clarke Koi Ponds

for the custom filters design and the installation of the plumbing, pumps, liner, and all of their advice
.
Day 1 – Started the 4′ trench for the plumbing

Brought the trench around to the future home of the filters

Day 2 – Dug the hole for the 7′ Vortex – first stop in the filter process

Day 3 – Rented a pool and filled it with water from the pond

Day 4 – Caught and moved the fish – drained the Phase II pond

Removed 4 tonnes of flagstone

Day 5 – removed the liner. Started to dig
Hit the ancient sand beach at 4’….easy digging!

Day 6 – Tunneled through to find the trench

Day 7 – Down to 7 feet. Left some shelf to get in and out.

Day 8 – Built an extended shovel handle for the 9′ reach from the bottom to the wheel barrow

Day 9 – Finished the big dig!

Day 10 – Installed the Liner and bottom drain

Installed the 6′ Vortex, Catches debris before the filters

Laid the drain plumbing to the Vortex

Day 11 – Installed the three 55 gal filter drums

Started filling the pond with 4000 gallons

Day 12 – Put the fish in their new home

Day 13 – Roughed in the flagstones

Day 14 – 15 – Framed the deck – overhanging the pond

Day 16 – Clarke Koi installed the Pump, UV Filter, and Air Compressor

Day 17 – Finished the composite decking

Day 18 – Filled in around the filters
They all have to be exactly the same height as the full pond (laser on a tripod!)

Fitted the flagstones around the edge of the pond
Used the big ones so there would be a good overhang, but 90% of the weight on the ground

Day 19 – Moving a mountain of dirt
Filled one and a half 16 tonne bins

Day 20 – Mortared the flagstones

Covered the Vortex, the Filters, and the Furnace 2012-2019

Built a proper shed in May 2019
